Mr. Colon "Ersel" Jones, age 91, of Mayfield passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Mills Health & Rehab in Mayfield, KY.
He was a member of New Home Baptist Church; a retired employee of the Merit Clothing Company and the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Darrell (Jane) Jones and Michael (Vickie Johnson) Jones both of Mayfield, KY; one daughter, Elwanda (Doug Smith) Treas of Mayfield, KY; one brother, Eldrid Earl Jones of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Maxine Carlisle of Bowling Green, KY and Barbara Joiner of Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Brittain Jones; his parents, Colon and Bevia Morris Jones; three brothers; one sister; one son-in-law, Donald Treas; and one daughter-in-law, Shelia Jones.
Funeral services for Mr. Colon "Ersel" Jones will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Rev. C. W. Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow in Mayfield Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Treas, Patrick Dunnaway, Kevin Jones, Taylor Jones, Adam Jones and Mitchell Jones.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
