Dorothy Montgomery

Dorothy Jean Montgomery Stivers, 87, of Paducah, KY, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 5:35 A.M. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dottie was born on February 22, 1930 to Lloyd and Violet Montgomery in Lexington, TN where she often helped them at their businesses, a movie theater and clothing store. She attended Stephens College and received a degree in Marketing. In 1952 she married Dr. Rupert Stivers and became a military wife, living in West Point, NY. They moved back to Paducah in the early 60's. Dottie was office manager at her husband's podiatry practice for many years. She was also a volunteer with Lourdes Auxiliary and a longtime member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and was an enthusiastic bridge player. Dottie was well-loved by everyone that knew her. Her smile and humor will be missed by her family and the many friends she made along the way.

Mrs. Stivers is survived by her daughter, Susan McGrath and husband, Brian, of Boise, ID; her sons, Dr. Stephen M. Stivers and wife, Annette, of Paducah, Robert L. Stivers and wife, Judy, of Shanghai, China; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stivers was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rupert Earl Stivers; her parents, Lloyd Montgomery and Violet Butler Montgomery; her brother, Gerald Lloyd Montgomery.

A memorial graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel. Rev. Bob Franz will officiate.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 3140 Parisa Dr., Paducah, KY 42003.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
