Fred Grimes

Fred (Pete) H. Grimes Jr. 88 of Paducah, passed away at 7:30PM on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
Mr. Grimes served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School and practiced law in Paducah for over fifty years, from 1951 through 2004. He served as McCracken County Attorney from 1983 through 1996 and was honored with a special award from the Kentucky County Attorney Association in 1996 for his services. He was respected and admired for his legal ability and his compassionate counsel to the citizens of McCracken county. His advice to the McCracken Fiscal Court was invaluable and much appreciated. He was a member of Broadway Church of Christ; member of Paducah Lions Club; former chairman of the Telethon of Stars; and former board of directors member for the McCracken County Humane Society. He was an avid golfer, playing with the same foursome of Sid Fulton, Rupert Stivers and Sam Boaz for over 40 years.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Crocker Grimes of Paducah; two daughters, Lisa (Edward) Hely of Paducah and Gloria (Rich) Eversman of Frankfort, KY; two brothers, Darrell Grimes of Kellogg, ID and Harold Grimes of Seattle, WA; one grandchild, Lucy Eversman of Bowling Green, KY, one step-grandchild, Melissa Truex of Richmond, KY and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his parents, Fred H. and Della Grimes; his first wife, Barbara Grimes; one brother, Paul Grimes and one sister, Velma Baskin.
Funeral services will be at 4:00PM Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Mr. Andy Clausen officiating. A private burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 2:00PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
