Harold Felts

April 15, 1946 — September 14, 2015

Harold Dean "Sappy" Felts, 69, of Paducah, died Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:15pm at home with the room filled with his loving family and friends at his side. He willingly joined his Lord and Savior after a long battle with an extended illness. He fought with dignity and grace and always carried a smile for everyone. He never met a stranger or never forgot them even if he hadn't seen them for years. He was a beloved friend to many and would always address them with a smile, handshake, and by name.

He was a member of Heartland Worship Center and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam and was a member of American Legion and life member of VFW. He retired as a Chemical Operator and was trained and active as a firefighter at ISP Chemical, Inc. of Calvert City. He was a diehard UK basketball fan starting as early as the 1960's, as well as a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. He attended and graduated from St. John High School in 1965.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Ann Nelson Felts. He is also survived by his three step-children, Lora Johns and her fiancé' Art Pender of Paducah, Elliott Huertas of Nashville, TN, and David Huertas of Paducah; two brothers, Joe (Sonny) Felts, Jr. and wife Barbara, Cletus Felts and fiancé Sandra Vaughn; seven sisters, Dolores O'Nan and husband Albert, Mary Lee Anderson and husband Bill, Carol Osborne and husband Jim, Jeanne Abell and husband Darty, Phyllis Sims and husband Van, Kathy Hibbs and husband Mike, Betty Conkwright and husband Larry, father and mother-in-law, Morris and Peggy Nelson; brother-in-law, Don Nelson and wife Patti; brother-in-law, Jim Nelson; several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, Amanda and Cameron Johns, Addison Huertas and Hailey Pender, who affectionately called him Poppie; and godson, Brad Conkwright.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Thelma Kaufman Felts; brother-in-law, Joe Reed; niece, Cynthia Felts; and nephew, Kenny Felts.

A special thank you to William Mitchell and our children for all their extraordinary and compassionate care during his long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah and will be officiated by his very good friend and brother in Christ, Dick Vasseur. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, with a special tribute played on the bagpipes by his brother-in-law, Don Nelson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8pm and again at 12pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made locally to Wounded Warriors, C/O HOOAH Hunts, Jim Williams, P.O. Box 331, Eddyville, KY 42038.
