Mrs. Helen Frances Sims, age 81 of Gilbertsville, KY, passed away peacefully in her sleep and is now in her Heavenly home. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished her family. All her life she faithfully served the Lord and was a testimony to everyone she came in contact with. She loved to be outdoors tending to her flowers, and fishing with her husband. Music was a big thing in her life as she enjoyed concerts and was a huge Elvis fan. She would never miss a UK Wildcats basketball game on TV and aways cheered them on with fevor.
Mrs. Sims was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Briensburg, KY.
Born Friday, May 3, 1935 in Birdsville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Luther Rudd and the late Helen (Braswell) Rudd.
Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Roy "Lefty" Sims of Gilbertsville, KY, one son, Michael Vernon Sims of Paducah, KY, two daughters, Tina Marie Mason of Gilbertsville, KY and Lisa Desiree Sims of Gilbertsville, KY, son in law, Carl Vinson of Paducah, KY, two brothers, David Thomas Rudd of Ledbetter, KY and Maurice Ray Rudd of Smithland, KY, one sister, Dorothy Jo Kelly of Smithland, KY. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melanie Renee Jarvis of Paducah, KY, Tessa Marie Jamerson of Southern Pine, NC, David James Ray Mason of Atlanta, GA, Adam Michael Sims of Paducah, KY, and seven great grandchildren, Haylee Marie Nall, Madison Elizabeth Jarvis, Matthew Willian Nall, Reed Alexander Jarvis, Aiden Michael Sims, Owen Mitchell Sims, and Marley Rose Jarvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Janet Lee Vinson, and one brother, Donald Rudd.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, with Dr. David Parish officiating.
Internment will follow the service in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Paducah, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
