Mary Lee White

Mary Lee Green White, age 79, rested from her earthly years of labor on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah. She was the daughter of Garfield Green, Sr. and Mary Johnson Green. 

Mary attended Nehemiah Christian Ministries and was a member of the former Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, both in Paducah. She retired from Lourdes Hospital as a home health nurse.

Mary wasted no time in preparing herself for various levels of opportunity. She was a certified state registered nurse’s aide and later received her license as an LPN. Additionally, she received recognition for her active participation in “Female Construction Orientation Training” and completion of a course in Mason Tending 1.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered as a hard-working, resilient homemaker who was always looking out for others and who spoke what was on her mind. She often pressed hair at home and was skilled in using Marcel curling irons.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Garfield Green, Sr. and Mary Johnson Green; three brothers, Willie Thomas, Garfield Green, Jr. and Alfred Freeman; and five sisters, Millie Gary, Betty Muse, Rose Lee Thomas, Pearl Green, and Ada Green.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory are five children, Lynfred White of Louisville, KY, Earl White, Jr. of Castleberry, FL, Maria (Edward) Crockett, Marcus (Clarissa) White, both of Paducah, KY, and Darrell (Mattie) White of Hope Mills, NC; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie (Debra Jones) Green of Paducah, KY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Donna G. Newsome Hawkins officiating.
