Morris Shelton

May 4, 1926 — December 21, 2017

Morris F. Shelton, 91, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 5:29 am Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Lourdes Hospital.

Morris was born in Paducah on May 5, 1926 to Orville and Bessie Shelton. After graduating from Lone Oak High School, he served in the South Pacific with the United States Navy during World War II. He began his employment with Union Carbide Corporation in Paducah. He later worked in management as an Area Supervisor with U.S.E.C. He enjoyed quail hunting and was an avid reader. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and was loved and respected by those he met.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jeanne Carroll Shelton; his daughter, Julia Shelton Smithmier and husband David, of West Paducah; his son, Wayne M. Shelton and wife Luanne, of Brookport, IL; his brother, Russell Orville Shelton, of Bartlesville, OK; his grandchildren, Kent Shelton and wife Leslie, Rebecca Smithmier Growel and husband Justin, Natalie Shelton Conn and husband Ryan; eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Wendel Shelton and Bessie Cameron Waller Shelton; his sister, Virginia Walker; his brother, Wendel Shelton, who gave his life for his country during World War II.

A private graveside service with military honors, was held Friday, December 22, 2017 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, with Brother Jim Faughn officiating.
