Richard E. Alvey, 84, of Paducah passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Mr. Alvey was an automotive mechanic at Mercer’s Garage and worked for ICG Railroad. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching UK Basketball, Predators Hockey, fishing, and gardening.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Schmidt Alvey of Paducah; four children, Richard Lee (Linda) Alvey of Dayton, Ohio, David Lynn Alvey of Paducah, Michelle (Mike) Alvey Rhoden of Paducah, Shane Alvey of Metropolis; one brother, Morris (Debbie) Alvey of Paducah; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Orene Alvey; two brothers, Wesley Alvey and Donnie Alvey; and one sister, Deloris Lambert.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Appold officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family from 10:00 am to service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
