Thelma Conkright

November 6, 1915 — January 26, 2015

Kevil, Ky. Thelma Mae York Willoughby Conkright, age 99, died Monday morning at 9:16 a.m. at New Haven Assisted Living in Kevil.

She was born in Allen County, Ky. on November 6, 1915.

Thelma joined Durham Springs Baptist Church in Scottsville, Ky. at a very young age. She taught Sunday School at Oaklawn Baptist Church in Paducah for several years.

She is survived by two daughters Creo Willoughby of Kevil, and Carole Willoughby of Mims, Florida. Two sons Arnett Willoughby of Kevil, Ky. and Harry Willoughby of Athens, Alabama.
One Step-son Joe Conkright of Bayliss, Illinois and one sister Newman York Hogue of Sctosville, Ky. Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty three Great Grandchildren and four Great Great
Grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents Joseph W. and Emily Iola York; four sisters Audrey Douglas, Dollie Taylor, Irene Hammond, and Ruby Wimpee; three brothers Joseph W. York, Robert M. York, and Eldon L. York and one Grandaughter Kimberly Spears.

Thelma was a truly remarkable woman. She was strong and worked three jobs as a single mother to keep her family together. She was employed during WW. II on an airplane assembly line, but she excelled as a seamstress. She labored until her failing eyesight forced her to retire. She was a gentle, humble woman who was a good listener and friend. She found good in everyone. God has a new angel.

Funeral Services will be Friday. January 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter with the Rev. Thomas Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.

Visitation will be after 12:00 p.m. Friday until funeral time at 2:00 p.m.
